摘要

While there have been a great number of reports on functional-ized macrocycles that utilize their cavities as a complexing site, far fewer studies have been carried out on the use of those well-defined microenvironments as a reaction field for a functionality fixed on its inside. If a functional group is embedded in a large, shallow molecular bowl with a rigid framework (Fig. 1), the cavity will serve as a reaction field with unique and unprecedented properties.
