摘要

The common earthball (Scleroderma citrinum Pers.) occurs worldwide on sour, nutrient-poor soils in mykorrhiza with deciduous trees and conifers. Little is known about the chemical constituents of this familiar fungus, which is rather surprising given that its fruit bodies contain a structurally unique yellow pigment. Extraction of the crushed fruit bodies and subsequent purification yields two pure major pigments, one of which proved to be norbadione A (1).
