摘要

The chemistry of metal carbides is dramatically expanding in a number of directions. These compounds include those in which linear carbon chains bridge different organomeiallk building blocks.'2' In particular, complexes with a C, bridge, which can beobtained readily from acetylene, are a rapidly developing class of compounds. We report here the one-step synthesis of a complex wifh C, bridge directly from ethylene. The "naked" C_2 unit is confined in a square-planar array of two titanium and two lithium catrons supported by two meso-octaethyiporphyrinogen tetraanions (Et_8N_4~(4-)). The starting material [Et_8N_4Ti(thf)_2] 1 was obtained by the established procedure according to Eo.ua-tion (a) and its structure shown in Figure 1.
