Covalent linkages between nucleic acids and amino acid side chains are important in many biological contexts.For example,phosphodiester bonds between the 5'-end of DNA or RNA and the side chain of tyrosine are formed during topoisomerase activity and in genomes of picornaviruses,such as poliovirus,and an RNA 5'-termmus is linked to a serine side chain of the tumor-suppressor protein p53.
