Mixtures of Chiral Phosphorous Acid Diesters and Achiral P Ligands in the Enantio- and Diastereoselective Hydrogenation of Ketimines

In 2000,three groups independently reported that 2,2'-dihydroxy-1,1'-binaphthyl (binol) derived monodentate P compounds,namely phosphites of the type 1 phosphonites such as 2,and phosphoramidites 3,are excellent chiral ligands in Rh-catalyzed olefin hydrogenation.Since then this chemistry has expanded rapidly.It was shown that two monodentate phosphorous ligands bind to Rh in the transition state of the reaction.
