Halogen-metal exchange reactiosn are among the most powerful methods for preparing organometallic reagents.Pioneered by Wittig et al. and Gilman et al.,the halogen-lithium exchange has become an important method for the preparation of functioanlized aryla nd heteroaryl lithium compounds.
