摘要

The investigation of conformationally homogeneous por-phyrin assemblies is essential for the better understanding of energy and eleetron transfer in natural photosynthetie reaction centers. This area of research has been stimulated by the characterization of natural photosynthetie reaction centers by Deisenhofer. Huber. and Michel, and by the theoretical work of Marcus. Structures containing many porphyrin chro-mophores are of particular interest as models for light-harvesting antennae; only a few antennae models containing more than three porphyrin units have been studied, and all of these structures are rather flexible, which hampers understanding of their photophysical properties.
