One of the characteristics of our modern, fast-moving age is certainly the fact that, as consumers, we take for granted many of the things which we find very practical and useful every day without thinking more deeply about them. It is therefore not surprising that the general public does not realize that chemical processes play a decisive role in the production of many products of everyday life, especially since the press more often than not only publishes articles on the negative aspects of chemistry.
