摘要

Microelectrochemistry opens new dimensions for the solution of many electroanalytical problems. In this context, a fascinating new development is the electrochemical imaging of the topologies and reactivities of surfaces and layers. This can be performed by coupling scanning probe techniques with electrochemistry (scanning electrochemical microscopy; SECM). The spatial resolution achieved in the measurements is directly related to the electrochemical techniques investigated and the properties of the probing electrodes used. We recently demonstrated that potentiometric and amperometric detections could be performed with a microelectrode probe to map concentration profiles above an electrochemically active surface.
