Intradiol-cleaving catechol dioxygenasc represents a class of bacterial enzymes that catalyzes the oxidative cleavage of the intradiol-C -C bond of various catechol derivatives with molecular oxygen, yielding the corresponding muconie acid [Eq. (a)).
