In 1993 P.P. Power et al. described the first iriaminosilane containing a carbon-bound organic substituent; this had the composition RSi(NH_2)_3 (R = (C_6H_5)_3C_6H_2). To date further reactions of this compound have not been reported. In light of ourexperience with valence-isoelectrome sihmctriols, we were interested in triamino- and letraaminosilanes (R_2NSi(NH_2)_3, ROSo(NH_2)_3) with substituents bound through nitrogen and oxygen, respectively. These two systems have the advantage that the groupcontaining organic substituents can be subsequently hydrolyticaly removed after reaction at the NH_2 groups, whereas this is not possible for the carbon-bound tri-aminosilanes under mild conditions.
