Rod-coil block copolymers (RCP) have recently received significant attention as they provide a powerful means for the preparation of stable supramolecular architectures in solution and in the solid state.The conformational rigidity of one of the blocks has been achieved through the use of helical structures like polypeptides,polyisocyanates.polyisocya-nides,and polycarbodiimides as well as pi-conjugated polymers,for example,poly(p-phenylene)s,poly(thio-phene)s,and poly(phenylquinoline)s.
