摘要

Mossbauer spectroscopy of a series of bis(alpha-diimine)iron complexes has recently unequivocally shown that these distorted tetrahedral complexes with a triplet ground state contain a high-spin ferrous ion (S_(Fe)=2) and two monoanionic pi radicals L~(·-) (S_(rad)=l/2,Scheme 1),which are intramolecu-larly antif erromagnetically coupled to the iron ion to yield the observed S_t=1 ground state.
