Butatrienes by Cumuhomologation of Propadienes

In the series of hutatrienes only a few derivatives that exhibit functionality are known. In particular, fewer than half a dozen papers have been published on formyl acyl- and acyl-oxy-subslituted butatrienes. Established methods for the synthesis ofbutatrienes do not work for acyloxy-substituted butatrienes. In contrast, a strategy to generate butatrienic car-boxylates by elimination from suitable substituted allenic precursors turned out to be extremely successful.
