Structurally complicated natural products generally adopt very distinctive three-dimensional conformations,which,unquestionably,are important for their unique biological properties.Consequently,an important challenge for the future design of synthetic compounds with superior biological activities is the development of methods for the economical synthesis of molecules with defined three-dimensional shapes.
