Glc-PC, a New Type of Glucosidic Phospholipid

Phospholipids such as phosphatidyl choline (PC) are fundamental structural components of biological membranes. In addition to their structural role, they are also important in cellular signal transduction and as regulators of enzyme activity. It hasbeen known for some time that 2-O-alkyl and 2-O-acyl derivatives of 2-lysophosphatidylcholine display both cytotoxic and growth-promoting activities, and this has led to the development of dermatological agents, for instance for the treatment of skin metastases.
