Reactions of l.l'-Ferrocenediylbis{chioro-[(l,2,5,6-eta)-1,5-cyclooctadiene]}diplatinum with Triarylphospliane and Molecular Oxygen

In the chemistry of transition metal complexes containing metailocenes. intramolecular metal- metal interaction- involving the metal atom of the metallocene have bixorr.c vine of the most ir.teresting topics in recent years. As part of our studies otferroeenyl transition metal complexes, we have investigated the reactivities of the l,1-ferrocenediyidiphtinum compkx.es [{C_5H_4Pt(cod)X]_2Fe] (X =Cl, Br: cod= cycloocladiene) (1). These complexes react with two mole equivalents of PAr, (Ar = Ph, rho-CH_3OC_6H_4) and oxvgen to give the novel paramagnetic mu-hydroxo eomplexes 2. We wish to report here the chemistry of these and related complexes.
