Triphyrins are porphyrin analogues which contain only three pyrrole or pyrrole-related rings linked through meso-sp2 carbon atoms, as found in [18]triphyrin(6.1.1) (vacataporphyrin), [15]triphyrin(1.1.3), dithiaethyneporphyrin, [18]triphyrin(2.2.2), and [18]heterotriphyrin(2.2.2).[1]
