Several years ago three groups reported that certain binaphthol (BINOL)-derived monodentate phosphorus compounds are excellent chiral ligands in Rh-catalyzed olefin hydrogenation, namely, phosphites 1, phosphonites 1 (R=alkyl, aryl) and phosphoramidites 1.
