Mesoporous materials,which are ordered porous structures with siloxane-bridged amorphous walls,are a family of nanoporous solids with several extremely attractive features that allow them to host molecules of various shapes,sizes,and functionalities.Much research effort has been devoted to extending the number of available mesostructures by varying the templating surfactant and synthetic conditions as well as to extending their compositional range and surface functionality.
