Rigid Annulated Carbon–Sulfur Structures

Polythiophenes constitute a largely studied class of compounds because of their interesting properties as highly ordered conducting polymers[1] for thin-film organic electronic devices (light-emitting diodes,[2] field-effecttransistors,[3] organic photovoltaics for solar cells,[4] and electrochromic windows[5])and as soluble polyelectrolytes for polynucleotide or polypeptide sensing.[6] This research area is rapidly expanding, attracting scientists from different disciplines in the search for organic electronics and their development.
