摘要

Due to its role as a naturally occurring macrocyclic motif of ubiquitous importance, porphyrin. as a molecule, has inspired the conception and synthesis of numerous novel ring systems that may be regarded as structural variants of the parent cyclotetrapyrrole. One of the focal points in the current development of this new chapter in porphyrin chemistry is framed by the seven possible "nitrogen-in" structural isomers of porphyrin. These first came to light with the discovery of porphycene (1. Figure1),I or porphyrin-(2.0.2.0).
