9-Methoxystrobilurins-A Link Between Strobilurins and Oudemansins

Strobilurins 1 and oudemansins 2 from culures of basidiomycetes are of great interest as potent fungicides. The discovery that their fungicidal action is determined by the (E)-beta-methoxy-acrylute unit led to the synthesis of a large number of analogues, culminating recently in the first presen'ation of products tor commercial development.
