Dinuclear {(salen)Al} Complexes Display Expanded Scope in the Conjugate Cyanation of alpha,beta-Unsaturated Imides

The asymmetric conjugate addition of cyanide to alpha,beta-unsaturated carbonyl derivatives provides access to broadly useful bifunctional chiral building blocks.We reported [(salen)Al]Cl 1(Figure 1)as the first effective catalyst for the enantioselective conjugate addition of cyanide to alpha,beta-unsa-turated carbonyl compounds.
