Diastereo- and Enantioselective Synthesis of C_2-Symmetric, Protected l, n-Diamines from Dialdehydes

Diastereo- and enantiomerically pure diamines have a wide range of applications in organic synthesis and are characteristic structural features of numerous interesting target molecules. In particular vicinal C_2-symmetric diamines are of importance inasymmetric synthesis. They serve as chiral reagents and chiral auxiliaries and also as ligands and ligand building blocks in transition metal catalyzed asymmetric synthesis.
