The First Distibabutadiener Synthesis and Structure of trans-l,4-Bis(triinethylsiloxy)-1,4-bis(2,4,6-tri-tert-batylahenyl)- 2,3-distibabutadiene

Despite the considerable interest that has recently been shown in compounds containing phosphorus-carbon or arsenic-carbon multiple bonds, the knowledge of analogous antimony compounds is sparse. In fact, structurally characterized examples of such compounds can be confined to a few cases where system, for example, l and 2. Only in one of the canonical forms of resonance-stabilized lambda~5,rho~4 stibonium ylides such as 3 have acyclic Sb~C double bonds been proposed. As part of a continuing study ofhigher group 15 congeners with low coordination numbers, we now report the synthesis and X-ray crystal structure of the first distibabutadiene 4, which contains the first example of an acyclic lambda~3,rho~2 Sb-C double bond.
