The present industry update covers the period 1—30 June 2016, with information sourced from company press releases, regulatory and patent agencies as well as the scientific literature. Recovery and further growth in the bio-tech investment sector is showing effects, an encouraging increasing number of startups are in the creation and refinancing such as EyeGate Pharma and 5AM. Others are in growth mode through acquisitions (Valeant, Phillips-Medisize) or obtained substantial seed funds through public grants (Neuway Pharma and Intec). A number of regulatory approvals reflecting reformulation (Espero, Eisai) or novel drug-device combinations (Titan Pharmaceuticals, Roche) keep demonstrating the increasing options to overcome current drug delivery challenges.
