Bayer expands US biologies and vegetable R&D site

Bayer CropScience is expanding and relocating its US research and development facilities for its biological crop protection and vegetable seed businesses. The company will move the operations from Davis to a larger site some ten miles away in West Sacramento, California, in the first three months of 2014. The new 10 acre (4 ha) site has "existing" office and laboratory buildings, and the capacity to employ around 300 people. It will include a pilot plant, while Bayer has identified nearby land for greenhouse and test plot purposes. The move is part of the company's strategy to deliver integrated solutions based on biologicals as well as chemical pesticides.
