SDS Biotech has mixed first half

SDS Biotech, the agrochemical subsidiary of Japanese company Idemitsu Kosan, recorded a dip in sales to ￥4,591 million ($47 million) in the first half of 2013, with an operating loss of ￥64 million ($653,000). Figures for the comparable period in 2012 were sales of ￥4,627 million ($47 million) and a profit of ￥121 million ($1 million-Agrow No 648, p 4). However, the company has not made direct comparisons with 2012 due to its acquisition of a 65% stake in Indian agrochemical and fertiliser company Sree Ramcides Chemicals in January (AgrowNo 657, p 3). The Indian subsidiary has been renamed SDSRamcides CropScience.
