Edaphic Melolonthidae Associated with a Temperate Commercial Forest in Tlaxco, Tlaxcala, Mexico

Information about subterranean melolontidos and the damage to Pinus patula Schiede ex Schltdl. et Cham., in a temperate commercial forest in Tlaxco, Tlaxcala, Mexico, is discussed. We obtained 152 larvae that represented 10 species of the genus Macrodactylus (n = 8), Diplotaxis (n = 2) and Phyllophaga (n = 142). The greatest richness and abundance were found in the area without forest management with 10 species and 64.5% of the specimens. Correspondence analysis showed that most of the species were associated with trees with obvious damage to their roots.
