Outcomes of a Coaching-Based WHO Safe Childbirth Checklist Program in India EDITORIAL COMMENT

In recent decades, there has been a dramatic shift from home to facility-based births, as well as an overall reduction in birthrelated mortality. Despite these trends, a large disparity exists in maternal and neonatal mortality between countries that is directly related to their economies. TheWorld Health Organization (WHO) created the Safe Childbirth Checklist, a clinical tool to assist birth attendants by outlining a set of 28 essential birth practices designed to address the most common, preventable means of mortality for women and neonates.
