Tennessee Gas Pipeline Files FERC Comments to Quell Public Concerns over Safety and Environmental Compliance Regarding Conversion of Natural Gas Pipeline to Transport Liquids

In a bid to mollify public concerns over the safety risks posed by its affiliate's proposed conversion of an historical natural gas pipeline to gas liquids transportation, on 6/5/15 Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. (TGP) (CP15-88) filed comments in the proceeding reviewing its proposed "Abandonment and Capacity Restoration Project." The company's comments focus on one facet - the transfer to TGP affiliate Utica Marcellus Texas Pipeline LLC (UTMP) and "repurposing" of the 964- mile gas pipeline -- of a complex project that involves replacing the abandoned gas transmission capacity on TGP with a series of six new compressor stations and 7.6 miles of new looped pipeline facilities. The company initially filed its application for FERC certification of the project on 2/13/15.
