SCREENING TECHNIQUES FOR EVALUATION OF INSECT RESISTANT TREES

A keen appreciation of the screening technique is necessary in order to evaluate insect resistant trees and utilize them as effective tools in modern pest management strategy. The present paper describes techniques used to measure tree resistance to insects. It centre round the aspects like manipulation of insect populations, evaluation of test trees and measurements of resistance. Trees with reduced insect damage, and the resulting increases in yield or quality, should be selected.
