摘要

Nineteen bamboo species, raised in bamboo setum, Tropical Forest Research Institute, Jabalpur (MR), were evaluated for the variation in susceptibility against bamboo defoliator, Pyrausta bambucivora. Dendrocalamus asper was found to be the most resistant while Dendrocalamus strictus was observed to be the most susceptible species. Leaf area consumed by the defoliator was maximum in D. strictus (41.98%) and minimum in D asper (2.20%). Polyphenols and protein content of the leaves played an important role in imparting resistance to the selected bamboo species.
