Bioproductivity and nutrient concentration in Phyllanthus maderaspatensis Linn.

摘要

The Present investigation deals with the bioproductivity, nutrient distribution and energy accumulation in a herbaceous vegetation at Bharathiar University Campus, Coimbatore. The bioproductivity study revealed that leaves contribute maximum biomass(25 to 34 percent), then stem (10 to 15 percent). The accumlation of biomass is in the order of leaves > stem > seed > roots > branches. The proportion of nutrient elements was found in the order of leaves- N > K > Mg > Ca > P, branches, seed, stem and roots-K > N > Mg > Ca > P. Among the concentration of different nutrients in various viomass components, the highest concentration (N, Ca and Mg) was observed in Ieaf. Branches contain maximum concentration of P and and K. The maximum energy content is observed in stem (2730 cal. g~(-1)) and minimum in root (2540 cal. g~(-1)). The results are discussed with earlier reports.
