The term pollination refers to the transfer and deposition of pollen on the stigma of the flower. The liberated pollen may be carried to the stigma of the same flower (self pollination) or another flower (cross pollination). Cross-pollination is further classified into: (a) geitonogamy- when pollination occurs between the flowers of same plant, and (b) xenogamy- when pollination occurs between the flowers of different plants.
