The paper summarizes the result of rooting of juvenile cuttings of Chir pine (Pinus roxburghii Sarg.). Cuttings emanating from 12 sources of P. roxburghii. UPUD/ 10 (Dhrasu), UPTSB/22 (Bhasla), HPSDE/9 (Sikanderdhar), HPJN/13 (Nupur,) HPUNB/17 (Una),UPDNA/18 (Dhanari), UPUN/10 HPCH/20 (Chopal), HPSOL/7 (Solan), HPNUP/3 (NURPUR),HPSKDR/8 (Sikanderdhar), and WBDRJ/3 (Darjling), were treated with different concentrations of IB A mixed wih talc viz. 1000 ppm, 2000ppm, 3000ppm and 4000ppm, 5000ppm. Control was also maintained wherein only talc powder was used. The treated cuttings were planted in two propagation media viz., (A) Black marble chips+soil and (B) Vermiculite medium. Statiscally significant differences in performances of CPT sources for allthe parameters i.e. rooting percentage, root length, shoot length and number of roots were observed. Among the 4 concentrations of IB A tried, 4000 ppm proved to be the best wherein 87.6% rooting was observed in UPTHB/22 CPT source. Vermiculite medium was found to be the best medium for rooting as against the medium consisting of Black marble chips and soil (3:1).
