Volumes at secondary aluminium producers have been solid, and larger producers havebeen successful at holding up market prices for their products. This has enabled them toenjoy higher margins due to lower raw material input costs (inexpensive scrap). However,with that said, all spot secondary market prices continue to be under immense pressure fromthe abundance of scrap that is available in the US market. The one thing pointed to byindustry participants that is saving secondary ingot prices from declining is the lack of openfurnace capacity to process the scrap into an alloy.
