Outreach is a term that is often used, but rarely defined. The term can apply to many policy fields that include education, health and social services. Essentially, it involves services being taken out of their normal, mainstream institutional settings and being offered in local community settings-places that people are familiar with, feel safe in, and use. In short, outreach means bringing health and social care to someone's own turf.
