Hungary’s MVM mothballs Oroszlany power plant

Hungarian state-owned utility MVM suspended powerproduction at its 240MW coal and biomass-fired Oroszlanyplant as of 1 January, as previously planned.The plant halted production because it failed tocomply with stricter emission limits effective from 2016. Itcontinued production after its Markushegyi mine was shutdown at the end of 2014 and burnt coal from its remainingstocks and other sources last year. Oroszlany’s operationlicence had been valid until the end of this decade.
