Radishes are traditionally the crops that people make unsuspecting children grow in their first garden. I've never quite understood why, because I've yet to meet more than a very small handful of kids who actually eat them. The unusual texture of these 'roots with attitude' and their distinctly fiery kick, aren't generally things with much appealto smaller gardeners. They weren't for me. But now I'm pleased to say that radishes hold a certain fascination, so it was with much interest that I set about growing these nine distinct varieties.
