摘要

A novel frequency selective surface (FSS) and its application for gain enhancement of super-wideband antennas are demonstrated in this article. The FSS is single layer; still it reflects quite in-phase over the entire operating bandwidth (2-20 GHz) providing fractional bandwidth more than 163%. The proposed FSS is successfully simulated, fabricated and measured. It has excellent radiation characteristics with the antenna. Measured results show a significant gain improvement (4-5dBi) over 2-20GHz frequency range. The compact single-layer configuration of the designed FSS provides more flexibility for its mounting close to a radiator making it an attractive candidate for modern applications in C-band, X-band, Ku-band, and K-band.
