US CFTC to Introduce Position Limits for Commodities Trading

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has outlined a plan to phase in position limits for commodities traded on regulated exchanges as it seeks to interpret and implement the elements of the broad financial reform bill signed into law earlier this year. The rules - which are still in the propos- al phase and open to public comment - would apply to futures and options contracts for crude oil, gasoline, heating oil and natur- al gas, along with a number of contracts for metals and agricultural commodities.
