Some catalysts are toxic and volatile, this volatility allows permeation of the toxin throughout its environment, and yet these catalysts are, in many eases, essential for organic synthesis. Therefore, in recent years, much attention has been given to immobilization and reuse of these catalysts, mostly on solid supports in bulk reaction systems.
