A challenging task for chemical researchers in the next decade is the development of cleaner and more environmentally friendly reactions. The traditional chemical syntheses of enantiomerically pure compounds often require multistep protocols with protection-deprotection steps as well as the isolation of potentially unstable intermediates, lowering the yields and sustainability of the overall process.
