Microgel-Stabilized Smart Emulsions for Biocatalysis

Biocatalysis is an important technique to produce enantio-pure substances owing to its inherent enantioselectivity and mild reaction conditions. However, many substrates of interest are poorly soluble in water, whereas enzymes typically prefer an aqueous environment. So enzyme-catalyzed reactions are often performed in biphasic aqueous-organic reaction systems to achieve high substrate concentration and enhance productivity.
