摘要

Fullerene functionalization has been studied extensively since they became available in macroscopic quantities in 1990. Because of its versatility, utility, and ease of implementation, the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of azomethine ylides is probably the most frequently used method for the synthesis of fullerene derivatives. The asymmetric version of this reaction has also been recently reported by Martin etal., thus giving rise to enantiomerically pure fullerenes.
