摘要

Over the past decade, replacing fossil fuels by renewable sources of energy has become a major research goal not only because of the dwindling resources of fossil fuels but also due to harmful effects of CO2 and other gases produced by combustion of the fuels. Hydrogen produced from water using solar energy is clearly the ultimate source of clean renewable energy. Traditionally, H2 is generated from water using Pt electrodes, and several catalysts have been used for electro-catalytic. photocatalytic or photoelectrocatalytic production of hydrogen. MoS2, which is an established catalyst for the hydrodesulfurization reaction has proven to be a good catalyst for electrochemical as well as photochemical hydrogen evolution reaction (HER).
