摘要

While the functions of many oxygenating non-heme iron enzymes could be successfully imitated within the last decades using molecular model compounds, to date there are hardly any reports in the literature on biomirnetic models for the cysteine dioxygenase (CDO), whose structure has been known since 2006. The enzyme catalyzes the oxidation of cysteine with molecular oxygen to yield cysteine sulfinic acid, which is needed for the assembly of central metabolites in the human organism (Scheme 1).
