The development of nanoengineered therapeutic carriers has been the focus of extensive research over the last decade. The assembly of advanced delivery vehicles requires control over properties such as nanostructure, chemical functionality, and degradation behavior. Polypeptides represent an excellent class of materials to assemble into therapeutic carriers because they are naturally biodegradable and can be engineered to contain a variety of functional groups.
